Stephen Rahman-Hughes set to leave EastEnders

Stephen Rahman-Hughes has been axed from ‘EastEnders’.
The 49-year-old actor has already shot his final scenes for the BBC soap, with producers reportedly feeling that his character Adam Bateman has run his course.
An insider told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "Producers have decided it’s the end of the road for Adam. It was decided to write the character out.
"His turbulent relationship with Honey Mitchell has kept viewers hooked. But once his cheating is exposed, the storyline comes to a natural end, so bosses decided not to renew Stephen’s contract."
The character first appeared on the show in 2018 and ‘EastEnders’ bosses have been delighted with his on-screen performances.
However, they don’t see a long-term future for Adam on the show now that his cheating has been exposed.
The source explained: "Stephen has been a fantastic part of the show. The decision to axe his character is no reflection on his performance."
As a result of the decision, Stephen has now decided to focus his attention on returning to theatre work.
And the hunky actor – who has joined the likes of Tamzin Outhwaite and Charlie Winter in leaving the programme – is now said to be currently weighing up a number of different opportunities.
An insider shared: "He has a number of options to explore now he’s finished on the show."
