Stephen Mangan: Filming Have I Got News For You from my living room was weird

Stephen Mangan says filming ‘Have I Got News For You’ during lockdown was like a "horrendous Skype call".
The 51-year-old star admitted it was a strange experience filming the comedy quiz show from his own living room, but it was edited to look "very good".
He said: "It was weird. It was like a horrendous Skype call with five people!
"They edited it and made it look very good but all five of us were in our separate living rooms, dotted around the country."
But Stephen was fortunate to still be able to shoot the show from lockdown, because the coronavirus has put paid to some of his other projects this year.
He said: "Lots of my acting jobs have been put on hold. We didn’t get to shoot a new series of ‘Portrait Artist’ or ‘Landscape Artist Of The Year’.
"And I was shooting a film that stopped halfway through."
When the pandemic is over, the ‘Split’ star has set his sights on travelling the world, and he particularly wants to head back to Ireland to see some of his relatives.
He added to the Metro newspaper: "I’ve got an urge to travel – suddenly you want to see the world when you’re not allowed to! I can’t wait to get back to the west coast of Ireland and see my aunts and uncles, who are all now in their 70s and 80s.
"Like most people with elderly relatives, I wonder when we’ll be allowed to see them again."
Stephen is also well known for appearing in ‘Green Wing’, and recently admitted he would be up for a revival – but only if he was "desperate for money".
He said: "Maybe in five years we’ll be desperate for the money… It’ll always be one of the things I’m most proud of.
"It didn’t really win any awards because of ‘Little Britain’ was out at the same time. That won everything.
"David Walliams would just keep coming down from the podium holding his award and flick us the Vs."
