Stephen Graham to play Line of Duty’s most dangerous ever villain

Martin Compston says Stephen Graham’s ‘Line of Duty’ character will be the show’s "most dangerous adversary" ever.
The 34-year-old actor has warned fans to expect the 45-year-old star’s character John Corbett to be the most menacing criminal that the police in the hit programme have ever faced.
Speaking on Gordon Smart’s ‘Radio X Evening Show’, he said: "One of the huge parts of the show’s success over the years is the wonderful guest leads that we’ve had, starting with Lennie James, Keeley Hawes, Danny Mays, Thandie Newton – this is the most excited I’ve ever been.
"Probably the thing I can say about is that Stevie’s probably the most out and out criminal we’ve ever faced in it, so he’s by and large, on a basic violent level, the most dangerous adversary we’ve ever had.
"And also with these things and just with the show naturally getting bigger and bigger and the move to BBC One, there’s more set pieces and more action sequences. It’s pretty explosive."
‘Monarch of the Glen’ star Martin – who previously appeared alongside the ‘This is England’ actor in the Brian Clough biopic ‘The Damned United’ – was glad to be reunited with his good friend on the show, and admitted their party days have been replaced with cups of tea and gym sessions.
He said: "Stevie Graham is an old friend but he’s been an inspiration to me.
"He’s just a force of nature, and we had a really good time working together so far.
"Because back in the day we were probably out all night and partying but we’ve both grown up a bit so it’s sorta gym and cups of tea and running lines."
Tune into the Radio X Evening Show with Gordon Smart, Mondays – Thursdays from 7pm-10pm and Smart on Sunday from 1pm-4pm every Sunday.
