Stephen Graham opens up on dyslexia struggle

Stephen Graham has opened up on his struggle with dyslexia – and he relies on his wife to read the scripts he is offered.
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor has suffered with the reading disorder his entire life and admits it makes it difficult for him to read parts quickly when he is considering whether or not to go for a role.
Luckily, Stephen has his actress spouse Hannah Walters – who he has been married to for eight years – to help him pick the right roles.
He said: "I’m dyslexic and it takes me a long time to read scripts. That’s why my buffer system is my missus. She reads them first and if they are that good then I get to have a look at them."
Joking she doesn’t always pick the right roles, he added: "She’s turned down a couple of fantastic opportunities but that’s completely another story!"
The 43-year-old actor is known for playing tough guy and gangster roles in movies and TV shows such as ‘This Is England’, ‘Snatch’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’ – in which he portrayed Al Capone – and he will next be seen in new Channel 4 thriller ‘The Watchman’ a one-off drama following a CCTV operator who intervenes in a dangerous situation after getting sick of police failing to tackle drug dealers.
Stephen recently wrapped filming on the next ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’, in which he reprises his role as Scrum alongside Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar and Geoffrey Rush returning as Captain Hector Barbossa.
It is set to be released in May 2017.
