Stephanie Davis was rushed to hospital after suffering with a chest infection.
The 26-year-old soap star – who plays Sinead O’Connor in ‘Hollyoaks’ – spent a week in hospital with a nasty chest infection after failing to look "after [herself] for a long time".
She took to her Instagram Stories to tell fans not to worry as she took a sudden break from social media.
Steph said: "The reason why I’ve not been about is because I’ve not been well.
"I’ve not wanted to post about it, or say anything. I didn’t want anyone to worry because I’m alright now."
Stephanie explained she has been "really run down" since her "relapse" last year, when she felt "total despair and helplessness".
She said: "Sorry about the way I look … I’ve just been really run down for a long time, obviously since my relapse last year, and obviously when I tried to … and everything. I just haven’t looked after myself for a long time, my chest, everything like that."
However, the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star insists her illness has been a sign to improve her health and take better care of herself.
She added: "I feel like everything happens for a reason…God knows I’m stubborn and he knows it takes a lot for me to realise things, so I think he’s done this just to go, ‘Stop, look after yourself for a second and focus on your health’, which I’m doing."
Stephanie previously admitted she wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her three-year-old son Caben-Albi.
She said at the time: "I’m so proud of my self for getting through what I just have and to the beautiful good hearted people who helped me.
I hope to make a difference next year regarding mental health nd addiction and make a difference! but right now I still need to work on my self, build up my strength.
Finally – Caben… You are my Absolute everything, without you I wouldn’t be hear, I love you so much, you are my rock and reason to life, I love you with all my heart. All my love… Stephanie. Xx (sic)"
