Stephanie Davis has opened up about her suicide attempt in an emotional social media post.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress – who has previously spoken candidly about her mental health struggles last year – has shared a harrowing video and lengthy statement with her followers to try to help anyone suffering in a similar way.
She captioned the heartbreaking post: "THIS IS NOT NOW, I’m in a really good place right now, I wanted to share this from what I went through last year.
"Makes me feel sick watching this, I just remember the darkness, body trembling I was that mentally mentally and physically exhausted!!!!
"I felt like my body gave in too not just my head, the only way I can describe it is everything shut down & I didn’t have any thing left to restart it. (sic)"
In a note alongside her caption, Stephanie revealed she felt "total despair and helplessness" at the time.
She wrote: "To feel like your life isn’t worth something is the worst feeling I’ve ever experienced in my life, total despair and helplessness that I wouldn’t wish on anyone…
"And then I just got rapidly worse, I just gave up, I fought so hard to carry on to try, but I couldn’t see a way out."
The 26-year-old star – who urged people to seek help and admitted her own recovery has been "one hell of a fight" – wants to "help others" with her post.
In the caption, she added: "Warning some may find the video distressing, I’m posting this to help others, it was a video I was sadly leaving behind. I’ve Never been in so much pain in my life, ever.
"I’m so proud of my self for how far I’ve come in such a short time with my amazing beautiful son, family and friends with their unconditional love & strength for carrying me when I could not walk my self to keely & all the staff who helped me too.
"The light it back. Everyone is fighting battles we don’t know about. I know i have to carry on the message to help others, and I will!! Fighter, always have been always will be! We will make a change TOGETHER!!! (sic)"
