Philip Seymour Hoffman’s friends, family and co-stars attended his wake in New York on Thursday (06.02.14).
The 46-year-old actor’s estranged girlfriend Mimi O’Donnell and the couple’s three children Cooper, 10, Tallulah, seven, and Willa, five, paid their respects to the star at the Frank E. Campbell funeral home on Madison Avenue, where those close to him comforted each other ahead of his funeral.
The Oscar-winning actor was found dead in his home last Sunday (02.02.14) after an apparent heroin overdose and stars from stage and screen joined the family to mourn his death.
Mimi, Philip’s partner of on/off 14 years, was visibly upset as she made her way inside the funeral home holding her sleeping daughter, Willa.
‘Blue Jasmine’ star Cate Blanchett, who formed a close friendship with the actor while starring alongside him in ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ in 1999, also attended the wake to say farewell to her friend.
Billy Crudup, Meryl Streep and Justin Theroux were among the other famous names at the vigil, along with Michelle Williams, Diane Sawyer, Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly, director Paul Thomas Anderson, Ethan Hawke and Ben Stiller who all celebrated Philip’s life.
The star of ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Capote’ reportedly fell off the wagon in 2012 after being sober for more than 20 years and he entered rehab in May 2013.
He was allegedly found with around 70 bags of heroin inside his Manhattan apartment last Sunday after his friend David Bar Katz discovered him on the floor of his bathroom.
The actor’s funeral will be held today (07.02.14) at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church on Park Avenue in New York City.
