Starlight Express set for revamp

‘Starlight Express’ is set to get a revamp in 2018.
Arlene Phillips and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber – who worked together on the original roller skating stage show in 1984 – have been in discussions about rebooting the musical in celebration of its 35th anniversary.
Arlene said: "We’ve been friends for a long, long time and I love to see him. ‘Starlight Express’ is coming up to its 35th birthday in 2018 and there’s talk of a massive revamp of the show."
And, although she’s got other ventures to focus on, the 73-year-old choreographer is keen to be a part of the project next year alongside her long-time friend because it’ll be a huge milestone.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I might jump on board that next year because I’ve been involved in that show – I choreographed the original show."
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge believes she’s entitled to some credit when it comes to the success of the musical as it was initially her life story that gave Lloyd Webber the idea.
She said previously: "’Starlight Express’ all began in Christmas 1979 by me telling Andrew Lloyd Webber a story about me being pregnant and learning to roller skate in California.
"Jump forward to 1982 and Andrew called. ‘Do you remember telling me a story about learning to roller skate?’ he said. I really had to think. Then he asked, ‘Do you roller skate?’ I said ‘Yes, I do…’ and that was when he asked me to choreograph ‘Starlight Express’. "
