2017 saw the much-anticipated arrival of ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ – which was the highest-grossing movie of the year.
It was the last instalment in the franchise starring the late great Carrie Fisher – who played the role of Princess Leia since the first movie in 1977 – and so was destined to be the biggest blockbuster of 2017.
A mixed reception from fans and critics alike hasn’t stopped millions hitting cinema complexes around the globe to catch the popular sci-fi flick.
As of January 3, Collider.com reported that the Rian Johnson-helmed film – also starring the likes of Mark Hamill [Luke Skywalker], Adam Driver [Darth Vader] and John Boyega [Finn] – made an impressive $531,511,829 at the box office.
