Spitting Image ‘pull Boris Johnson manhood sketch’

ITV bosses are said to have pulled a ‘Spitting Image’ sketch which featured a Boris Johnson puppet with a "tiny" manhood.

The upcoming series – which is set to air later this year – filmed a risque trailer in which puppets of Boris, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin were wrestling naked in a sauna, and the trio were grappling with their members.

An ITV source told The Sun newspaper: "We told them to take no prisoners with the trailer. And they certainly didn’t. But some of the senior executives couldn’t handle the fact they were fighting with their willies.

"They’ve given Boris and Trump tiny latex penises as well. They’re really small, but Putin’s is monstrous. Like a snake. It was eye-popping stuff."

The popular satirical puppet show – which aired on ITV from 1984 to 1996 – will become BritBox UK’s first original commission when it comes back for a new series this autumn, with the likes of James Corden, RuPaul, Boris, Beyonce, and Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan set to be poked fun at in puppet form.

‘Spitting Image’ ran for a total of 18 series, and several real-life stars were mocked in puppet form, including Margaret Thatcher, Paul Gascoigne, Sir John Major, Michael Heseltine, Ronald Reagan, and Sir Mick Jagger.

But ITV boss Kevin Lygo has held a meeting with co-creator and Executive Producer Roger Law to discuss how black characters will be portrayed following the Black Lives Matter movement.

What’s more, former producer John Lloyd – who has had a sneak peek at the new episodes – claims the new series will be "much ruder".

He said: "There are some hilarious bits … much ruder than any terrestrial channel would allow."
