Sophie Ellis-Bextor loves spending time with her family at Christmas.
The 40-year-old singer – who has five sons with her husband and The Feeling bassist Richard Jones – loves the festive season, as it’s the one time of year she gets to spend plenty of time with her loved ones.
Sophie is set to ring in the holidays this year by reading at the mothers2mothers Carols by Candlelight carol concert on December 2, and has said she can’t wait to get involved with the charitable cause.
In a statement, she said: "What do I love about Christmas? It has to be the family time and getting to hear my favourite Christmas song, Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. I am so excited for the mothers2mothers Carols by Candlelight because it’s such a beautiful event and will get me in the Christmas spirit, all for a good cause. I think the mothers2mothers model is pretty genius … empowering women affected by HIV to help other women lead healthier lives. And, it works!"
mothers2mothers (m2m) is an organisation that unlocks the power of women to eliminate childhood AIDS and create healthy families, and the Carols by Candlelight event be raising money for the charity’s cause.
Alongside the ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ hitmaker, ‘Downton Abbey’ stars Matt Barber and Samantha Bond – who is also patron of the charity – will be reading at the concert, as well as ‘Poldark’ actor Christian Brassington.
The event will also feature a special performance from The London African Gospel Choir.
mothers2mothers’ Carols by Candlelight is taking place at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge, on December 2.
