Sophie Austin to join EastEnders?

Sophie Austin wants to join ‘EastEnders’.
The 32-year-old actress may have only just turned her back on ‘Hollyoaks’, in which she played psycho gloved killer Lindsey Butterfield, but she’s already eyeing up a role on the long-running rival soap as she’d love to work with her former co-star Gillian Taylforth, who recently reprised her on/off role as Kathy Beale in the BBC show, once again.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the British Soap Awards, held at London’s Hackney Empire, on Saturday (28.05.16), the brunette beauty said: "I’ve just been going for meetings, there are bits in the pipeline, but I just have to wait and see what happens. But it’s nice to have a break, I only finished a few weeks ago, actually have a sleep!
"I love all the soaps, I’ve got friends in all the soaps, but I’d have to say I would want to join ‘EastEnders’. Because it is down south. I’m a southern girl at heart. And then that would be nice to be back with Gillian again."
But, although she’s no longer part of the Channel 4 show, Sophie is still keen to support her ex-cast mates because she thinks the soap is the "underdog" among the bunch.
She explained: "My friends are still in it. I want to support them. So yeah, definitely I think it has been going for so long, and ‘Hollyoaks’ is such an underdog. But week in, week out, they never fail to deliver.
"You know, they always trump themselves each week so you know, it always keeps you on the edge of your seat and I’ll definitely keep watching."
