Sofia Carson feels honoured to have got to star in ‘Adventures in Babysitting’ – the 100th original film made by the Disney Channel.
The 23-year-old actress plays Lola Perez in the film – a remake of the 1987 movie of the same name which starred Elizabeth Shue – and she was thrilled when told it was a landmark project for Disney.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "It was a complete honour to make the movie. I’ve been such a lover of everything Disney since I was a little girl so it was a complete honour and it’s still surreal.
"’Adventures in Babysitting’ is a remake of the movie in the 80s which was a very big hit in America called ‘Adventures in Babysitting’ starring Elisabeth Shue and it’s become a beloved classic film, kind of like a ‘Home Alone’ in America, and we remade it as the 100th Disney Channel movie and it’s for a whole generation.
"Me and Sabrina Carpenter appear as two rival babysitters and my character Lola is a free-spirited creative artist who is very passionate about photography but she kind of lives life by her own rules and can be a little bit irresponsible at times which is what leads into this crazy adventure that they have because Lola babysits children, loses a child in the process because she isn’t babysitting at all and they go off on this big crazy adventure in the city where there’s tonnes of action and adventure and comedy. It was an adventure of a lifetime to shoot."
And Sofia thinks kids, parents and babysitters will enjoy the comic film equally because there’s humour relating to everyone.
She explained: "The film is for both which is what’s so great because since most parents have already seen the film, parents and babysitters are aware of the film and kids are going to be introduced to it in this way. And I feel like babysitting is such a part of our culture, we’ve all been babysat and we all babysit so it’s kind of like that fantasy babysitting adventure that we all dreamt on going on and we have it in this movie."
‘Adventures in Babysitting’ premieres on the Disney Channel at 5.30pm on Friday (15.07.16).
