Sky to launch two new channels

Sky are adding two new television channels to its portfolio.
Sky Documentaries and Sky Nature will launch this spring and will feature contributions from Sir David Attenborough and Mark Wahlberg, and the channels will be available as linear, on-demand and also on Sky’s streaming service NOW TV.
The network confirmed the news on Twitter, posting: "We’re bringing you world-class documentaries and the planet’s natural beauty on two brand new channels. #SkyDocumentaries and #SkyNature coming soon."
Originals on Sky Documentaries include HBO’s ‘McMillions’, executive produced by Mark Wahlberg, which exposes the McDonald’s Monopoly game scam that took place in the 1990s.
Other shows include ‘Tiger Woods: The Comeback’, Andrew Rossi’s ‘After Truth: Disinformation and the Cost of Fake News’, and Showtime’s ‘The Kingmaker’, a look at the controversial political career of Imelda Marcos.
Sky Nature will host the existing Attenborough collection, as well as new shows ‘Extreme Animals: One Wild Day’, ‘Extreme Animals: Life’s First Steps’ and ‘Wild Tales From the Farm’, narrated by Hugh Bonneville and ‘Amazing Animal Friends’, produced by Emmy and BAFTA award-winning producers Oxford Scientific Films.
Zai Bennett, managing director of content at Sky, said: "These new channels will offer our customers an unrivalled destination for brand new, world-class documentaries and nature programming as well as an extensive on-demand library of the world’s best factual programmes."
The announcement follows hot on the heels of the launch of Sky Comedy, which debuted on Monday (27.01.20) and Sky Crime, which began broadcasting in October last year.
The channels will join the existing line-up that includes Sky One, Sky Atlantic, Sky Witness and Sky Arts.
