Sir Tom Jones "doesn’t know" if Jennifer Hudson will be returning to ‘The Voice’.
The 79-year-old singer thinks the show currently has a "really" good panel in himself, the ‘Dreamgirls’ actress, will.i.am and Olly Murs and though filming on the new series is just a month away, he admitted the only female coach may not be back as she has other projects in the pipeline.
He told the Daily Star Online: "I think the four of us right now are really good but we don’t know if Jennifer will do the Aretha Franklin film yet.
"Hopefully she can return though as we have a lot of fun – I really like singing with her you see."
The show has been running for eight seasons and the ‘It’s Not Unusual’ hitmaker thinks it’s still doing well because it’s so "unique".
He said: "We start filming in October for the new series.
"[It holds up against other reality shows because] ‘The Voice’ is unique.
"It is all about singing. It is all about the voice. It’s not about dog acts or jugglers or flame throwers it not like that – that’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’."
Tom also admitted he’d welcome a celebrity version of the show.
Asked if they should do something similar to the upcoming star-studded series of ‘The X Factor’, he said: "Yeah, that would be alright."
It was claimed in May that Jennifer had decided against returning for the new series of ‘The Voice’ because she had so many other commitments.
A source said at the time: "Jennifer has absolutely loved her time on ‘The Voice’ but she’s decided not to return.
"It wasn’t an easy decision. She would love to continue doing the show. But she has a lot on and something had to give."
