Sir Elton John’s beloved dog Arthur has died.
The 70-year-old music icon has revealed that his pet pooch Arthur – who was his best friend and even reportedly served as the best man at his 2014 wedding to David Furnish – has tragically passed away at the age of 14.
According to The Blast, Elton made the confession during his show in Las Vegas on Friday (02.03.18) night, where he proceeded to dedicate his hit track ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’ to the late cocker spaniel.
Arthur was gifted to the ‘Rocket Man’ hitmaker on his 56th birthday, and quickly became the star’s best friend, with Elton regularly taking the pooch to dine in Michelin-starred restaurants, and even giving him a credit on his 2006 album ‘The Captain and The Kid’ for playing "the woof-bells".
Elton even staged a mutt marriage for Arthur and his other spaniel Marilyn, with the ‘couple’ sharing a doggy daughter named Isobella.
Arthur’s passing comes after Elton and David were slammed by a mother who claimed one of their several pooches lashed out and bit her five-year-old daughter Charlotte.
Mari Kieran alleges the incident happened when her daughter was visiting the pair’s home in Old Windsor, Berks, South East England, for a playdate with their sons Zachary, seven, and Elijah, four, and was outraged when she didn’t receive a phone call apologising for the alleged attack.
She said: "Their dog full on bit my child in the face. I don’t care who they are. It was revolting…
"I was quite shocked [they didn’t call] because it wasn’t an insignificant thing that happened.
"The dog didn’t just nip her, it bit her in the face and left scarring. I’m really upset there’s never been a phone call asking if there was anything they could do …
"This is Elton John and David Furnish’s animal attacking a child and at the very least I would have expected a phone call."
