Sir Elton John performs at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception

Sir Elton John performed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lunchtime reception.
The ‘Rocket Man’ hitmaker sang at the reception – held at St George’s Hall, Windsor Castle – as a "recognition of the close connection" the singer has with Prince Harry.
Kensington Palace shared: "Sir Elton John has performed at the Lunchtime Reception for guests celebrating the Wedding of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle. Prince Harry asked Sir Elton to perform at the Reception which was hosted by Her Majesty The Queen at St George’s Hall, Windsor Castle. Sir Elton performed for the newly married couple in recognition of the close connection he has with Prince Harry and his family."
Sir Elton John – who was seen in the congregation at St. George’s Chapel as the couple said ‘I do’ – was expected to perform during the couple’s big day after he cancelled a couple of his shows in Las Vegas, which had been initially booked for this weekend, due to a "scheduling conflict".
Last month, the legendary singer – who attended the wedding of Prince William and Duchess Catherine in April 2011 – said he would love to perform for Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, but claimed he was yet to receive an invite to the nuptials.
He said at the time: "If they asked me to – but I haven’t been asked to the wedding yet. I would love to be at the wedding to see them because I think they are happy. I know they are so happy."
Elton was good friends with Princess Diana – who tragically passed away in August 1997 aged 36 following a car crash – and he thinks the Princess of Wales would have approved of Meghan.
He recently said: "She would be proud of them. And I am proud of them. They are fabulous human beings."
