Simon Gregson wrapped shoulder in gaffer tape

Simon Gregson wrapped his shoulder in gaffer tape.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who is known for playing grumpy cabbie Steve McDonald in the long-running soap – was forced to take another short hiatus from filming last month after he fell off a scooter while playing with his sons Alfie, eight, and Harry, six, and broke his shoulder.
And, although he was in horrific pain at the time, he used his imagination and piled the strong cloth-backed waterproof adhesive tape onto his joint to keep it in place until he got to the hospital and received medical help.
He explained: "My shoulder’s getting better. I’ve still got a couple of months of physio left, and then it should be fine. It wasn’t pleasant; we had to gaffer tape it up at home after it happened to keep it in place. It wasn’t ideal when I have young kids, and I couldn’t hold my baby for a month."
The 41-year-old star may not have made a full recovery but he’s returned to set and has thrown himself back into filming his forthcoming scenes for the popular show.
He said: "It’s great to be back at ‘Coronation Street’. It’s been nice catching up with all the gang and getting stuck back into work. To be honest, after the first day back, it was like I’d never been away."
The star temporarily walked away from the show last September on an extended break – after playing his dopey alter-ego since 1989 – in order to welcome his third son Teddy, now six months, into the world with his wife Emma Gleave.
Speaking of his new bundle of joy, he told OK! magazine: "He’s ace. He just smiles and poos on rotation. He’s sleeping right through, he goes for about 12 hours a night. It’s amazing, it’s like they made him in a lab and out came the perfect baby."
