Simon Gregson is reportedly taking another hiatus from ‘Coronation Street’ – just two weeks after his return.
The 41-year-old actor – who is known for playing taxi driver Steve McDonald in the long-running soap – has only just returned to the show following five months off but has been forced to tell bosses that he’ll need another break after he fell off a scooter and broke his shoulder two weeks ago.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "This is the last thing he wanted after such a long time away from work. He was looking forward to getting stuck into his storylines again."
Simon was playing with his young sons Alfie, eight, and Harry, six, when the accident happened and will now need at least a month off while he undergoes surgery and recovers.
The insider explained: "He’s annoyed he needs surgery. But it’s a sore one and he’s going to rest up before heading back to work. Because it’s a shorter spell away it won’t give bosses such a big headache rewriting scenes."
The star temporarily walked away from the show last September on an extended break – during which time he welcomed his third son Teddy into the world with his wife Emma Gleave – after playing his dopey alter-ego since 1989.
