Simon Cowell has never met anyone more competitive than his son.
The 58-year-old music mogul is very proud of four-year-old Eric – who he has with girlfriend Lauren Silverman – and insists that, despite his lavish upbringing, the youngster is not a "brat" and he loves spending time with his little boy.
He said: "He says please and thank you. He’s not a brat, he’s kind. He actually cracks me up — he can really, really make me laugh, because we have a very similar sense of humour!
"He’s so competitive, the most competitive person I’ve ever met in my life!"
The ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge credits Eric for keeping him motivated.
Interviewed by his former girlfriend Terri Seymour for ‘Extra’, he said: "I actually think it’s the best incentive I’ve ever had to keep everything running as well as I possibly can."
Though Simon would "love" young Eric to take over his business empire one day, he’d make his son work his way up from the bottom.
He said: "I would do with him what my dad did. I would have him start as an intern, learn the job. The idea that one day he could be doing this or something similar, I would love that."
The ‘X Factor’ boss previously admitted he would "encourage" Eric if he showed signs of wanting a more academic job, but despite his son’s young age, he already doubts that will be his future path.
He said: "If he gravitates towards academics, then fine – I would encourage him but I have a feeling he’s gonna be more like me.
"I’m not gonna lie, I’d love him to one day say, ‘Can I work for you and learn how to do it.’
"That would make me feel incredible — and then you have a legacy."
