Sigourney Weaver: Alien 5 is definitely happening

Sigourney Weaver has revealed ‘Alien 5’ is "definitely happening".
The 66-year-old actress has spilled that Neill Blomkamp’s sequel is still very much going into production and she will be reprising her role as Ellen Ripley in the iconic sci-fi franchise.
The director had announced that his take on the killer Xenomorph extra-terrestrial species had been delayed due to Sir Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ sequel ‘Alien: Covenant’ but Sigourney insists it’s going ahead.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, she spilled: "It’s definitely happening and I’m going to be in every single scene."
It had previously been reported that shooting on ‘Alien 5’ – which Scott is set to produce – had been pushed back to 2017, with an expected release date in 2018.
Sigourney has previously admitted she feels as though the ‘Alien’ saga is "slightly unfinished", despite the four films and prequel ‘Prometheus’.
She said: "It’s true we did leave the story in a nebulous place. I didn’t want to go to Earth. I didn’t think that was very interesting. But I must say, part of me would like the story to end.
"You have to reinvent the envelope, do things that are beloved and at the same time take it to a new place. It’s a very difficult thing and I don’t think it’s anything a studio can manufacture."
