Ex-‘Coronation Street’ star Shobna Gulati "always knows" when her former on-screen husband cannot cope with the kids because she receives a Google Alert.
The 53-year-old star played Sunita Alahan from 2001 until she was killed off in 2013, but the character is still regularly mentioned by husband Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) on the ITV soap and the actress even receives notifications whenever her former alter ego is in the news.
She wrote on Twitter: "I always know dev can’t cope with the children , when i get an alert on google about Sunita … 7 years gone and he wants to bring me up again ? #Corrie . its not still Sunita’s fault is it? (sic)"
Shobna’s comment comes during a tough week for Sunita’s daughter Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey).
In scenes this week, Asha is dealing with the fallout after she stripped on camera for her boyfriend, Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), and he betrays her trust by taking a screenshot without her consent and shares the material online.
Dev will initially blame Asha and tell her Sunita would’ve been disgusted by her actions.
But he eventually sees sense and goes to the police about Corey’s betrayal.
Tanisha recently admitted the hard-hitting storyline has "pushed [her] as an actress".
Asked if she is pleased to be given this storyline and issue to highlight, she replied: "Definitely, it’s pushed me as an actress and I’m happy to be given the responsibility of highlighting something that’s so important.
"I want to do it justice and make sure it’s portrayed in the right way, in the society we live in this happens to someone everyday and people need to see what can happen and what the worst case scenario can do to someone."
