Sheridan Smith would love to return to ‘Gavin and Stacey’.
The 38-year-old actress – who played Ruth "Rudi" Smith, the sister of James Corden’s alter-ego Smithy in the BBC sitcom – wasn’t back for the Christmas special last year, but she hasn’t ruled out reprising her role if the team make another series.
Sheridan – who was also previously in a relationship with the ‘Late Late Show’ host – told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "I’d definitely come back for a series.
"I’m not in touch with James — he lives in America. If I saw him here, we’d hug.
"I’ve got a lot of love for him but we don’t see each other."
Last year, Sheridan admitted she would have been glad to join the cast for the comeback episode, which aired on Christmas Day (25.12.19).
She said: "I wish. No, I’m not going to be in it, I think."
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like the star – who is expecting a baby boy with fiance Jamie Horn – will be back for a ‘Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’ reunion after former cast mate Will Mellor admitted he was struggling to get in touch.
The 43-year-old actor – who played mechanic Gaz Wilkinson in the cult classic sitcom – has been trying to convince former co-stars co-stars Ralf Little (Jonny Keogh), Natalie Casey (Donna Henshaw) and Sheridan (Janet Keogh) to return for a one-off special, but it’s proving a big ask.
Responding to a fan asking about the rumoured comeback, Will recently tweeted: "I’m still trying but it’s hard to all the original cast to agree to do it!! (sic)"
Last summer, the star admitted he was finding it difficult to get a response from Sheridan about the highly anticipated reunion.
He said: "I can’t get hold of Sheridan, I’ve not spoken to her. I don’t know how we would schedule it, it’s tough. Ralf is up for it, Natalie Casey is up for it but I think it has to be all of us or none of us."
