Shawn Mendes announces new album Illuminate

Shawn Mendes has announced his new album ‘Illuminate’ will be released in September.
The 17-year-old ‘Stitches’ hitmaker has revealed that the follow up to 2015’s phenomenally successful ‘Handwritten’ will be released on September 23, and will feature current single ‘Treat You Better’.
Announcing the news on his Instagram account, he wrote: "NEW ALBUM #IlluminateSept23 Preorder NOW on my site or on iTunes July 8th. Get "Ruin" this Friday when u preorder & 3 other tracks before release shawnmendesofficial.com (sic)"
Shawn has also teased what the style of the album is going to, claiming it is going to have a soulful vibe.
He said: "The new single ‘Treat You Better’ is great, but that’s just a little taste of where all the new music is going. That one is the poppiest song. (The album) is going to be more a soulful vibe – a lot more electric guitar-based. I think it’s going to do damage in a good way."
Taking a leaf out of Kanye West’s book Shawn is hosting an ‘album event’ at Madison Square Garden in New York City on September 10 to launch the LP.
The show is being pitched as an immersive, one-time-only ‘Illuminate’ "experience" and tickets to the Madison Square Garden show will go on sale on July 16 with pre-sales beforehand.
Shawn announced the plans via Twitter on Wednesday (06.07.16), posting, "Madison Square Garden headline show Sept 10th#IlluminateMSG! Presale & on sale info here http://shawnmendesofficial.com/msg. (sic)"
Speaking about his excitement for The Big Apple event, the Canadian singer/songwriter said: "If somebody told me six months ago that I’d be playing Madison Square Garden, I would not believe them."
Presale for the album begins this Friday (08.07.16) and includes two instant-grat downloads – current single ‘Treat You Better’ and ‘Ruin’.
