Shaun Ryder wants to present Top Gear

Shaun Ryder wants to present ‘Top Gear.’
The ‘Happy Mondays’ frontman has admitted he’d love to front the next series of the motoring show following the shock exit of Chris Evans, despite knowing "f**k all" about cars.
In an interview with NME magazine, Shaun said: "I can drive but that’s about it… I would have to rely on someone to throw the script at me and just say ‘go!’"
However, it’s unlikely the 53-year-old singer will land the gig alongside Matt LeBlanc as he previously took a swipe at the revamped programme after he joined Paddy McGuinness on his new show ‘Stars in Their Cars’ a few months ago.
He said of former host Jeremy Clarkson, who was sacked last year following an altercation with a colleague, and Chris: "It’s Paddy show where we test cars and blast them off. F**k ‘Top Gear’, f**k Chris, f**k that **** who went to private school and that other *** Clarkson who got sacked from the BBC, I’ll knock him on his ass! No I’m joking Clarkson is great, I watch him, I love him Clarkson is great."
Meanwhile, it’s believed bosses of the BBC show are keen to keep the former ‘Friends’ star as the main host.
A source said previously: "Matt is going to get the big job on his own. There are already active negotiations and he’s almost certain to sign now that he doesn’t have to work with Chris. Chris won’t be replaced but Matt will become the star presenter surrounded by the existing team."
Chris, who had signed a three-year deal back in December to host the motoring programme, sensationally quit the car show last month after the final episode pulled in its lowest viewing figures since 2002.
