Shaun Ryder not shocked by urine wash on new show

Shaun Ryder wasn’t shocked when he had to wash his face with urine on ‘100 Years Younger In 21 Days’ because his drummer drinks his own pee every day.
The 55-year-old rocker joined ‘Catchphrase’ host Roy Walker, ‘EastEnders’ stars June Brown and Sid Owen, ex-‘Coronation Street’ actress Claire King, TV legend Sherrie Hewson, ‘Gogglebox’ personality Sandra Martin and astrologer Russell Grant on the new ITV programme which set the celebrities a challenge to deduct years from their age by trying various eating, exercise and beauty regimes.
The stars had to endure some bizarre anti-ageing treatments, including snail slime facials and urine scrubs, which used cows’ pee or their own waste liquid.
But Shaun took it all in his stride because Happy Mondays sticksman Gary Whelan has professed the power of pee for years.
Whilst discussing the more unusual beauty treatments on ‘This Morning’, Shaun said: "Well, the coffee enema was more enjoyable than the snail stuff, you can call it slime, there’s other things for it. We washed our faces with cow’s urine and our own. That’s no big deal though, my drummer drinks his own urine first thing in the morning."
Shaun also insisted the extreme eating plan that he and his fellow celebrities were put on was no big deal to him because he has been juicing and following a pescatarian diet for the last year.
He explained: "I didn’t really know about the exercise (on the show), I was just there for the diet. I’d pretty much gone for the diet and gone pescatarian, I’d had to make a lifestyle change about a year ago. But the doctors told me not to exercise, but then I had to do it all. You can get all those green juices in the supermarket anyway."
Roy, 77, enjoyed trying out all the different treatments and "felt great" after finishing his time on the show.
The comedian said: "The enema is to get everything out of guts, bread, pasta and potatoes are infecting our gut and we had to get them, out and start again. I felt absolutely brilliant. We had such a laugh with all the people, we weren’t supposed to drink but we drank more than ever. Shaun was such great fun."
The four-part series begins on ITV on Tuesday (27.02.18) and sees the eight celebrities flown out to Sardinia with Britain’s leading longevity expert.
