Shakira has been forced to postpone further dates of her ‘El Dorado World Tour’ after straining her vocal cords.
The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker was due start kick off the run in Koln, Germany on Wednesday night (08.11.17), but pulled out of the concert to avoid further damaging her voice.
The 40-year-old star was hoping to recover in time to perform in Paris on November 10, but on the advice of her doctor she has now cancelled the show, a second date in the French capital on Saturday (11.11.17), Antwerp on the Sunday (12.11.17) and Amsterdam on November 14.
Shakira – whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripol – has assured her fans that she is focusing all of her energy on getting better so she can give "100 per cent" when she is able to return to the stage.
In a heartfelt note to her 43.8 million followers posted on Instagram, she wrote: "To my fans and friends,
For the last few days I’ve been very focused on recovery strained vocal cords.
I really hoped to achieve this in time to be able to sing in Paris; however, and much to my chagrin, this hasn’t been possible and my doctors have advised me to continue on my vocal rest for the time being.
I’m very sorry to inform you all that I won’t be able to sing on the 10th and 11th in Paris, the 12th in Antwerp, or the 14th in Amsterdam, but we are working to confirm new dates.
At the moment I am focusing on full recovery to share with you all this show that I’ve so enjoyed preparing and of which I am very proud.
I’m anxious to get back on stage and be at 100 per cent for you all.
Again I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the support you’ve shown me these days and which has helped keep me afloat in what has been a difficult time.
God willing we will see each other soon for the kickoff of my tour.
Sending all my love and gratitude,
Shakira (sic)"
Shakira and her team are doing all they can to reschedule the cancelled shows.
