Shaheen Jafargholi has joined ‘Casualty’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor has landed the part of nurse Marty in the medical drama – his first role since his character Shakil Kazemi was killed off on the BBC One soap in a brutal stabbing.
He wrote on Twitter: "So excited to be joining the super talented cast of #Casualty. You’ll get to meet ‘Marty’ a little bit later on in the year… (sic)"
Shaheen has moved to Cardiff – where ‘Casualty’ is filmed – after landing the role, and he cannot wait to get started on the show.
He told Digital Spy: "I am so delighted to be joining the cast of ‘Casualty’ and continuing to work with the BBC.
"It’s been a whirlwind few weeks, moving to Cardiff, getting my head into a brand new character and meeting the super lovely and welcoming cast and crew. I’m super excited as I have been a fan of the series for years, so to get to be a part of it is fantastic."
Casualty’s series producer Lucy Raffety added: "We are delighted that Shaheen is joining the cast of ‘Casualty’. He is a huge talent with such a warm screen presence and we know he will bring so much to the show.
"Shaheen plays Marty, who has razor sharp wit, but he soon discovers that being an ED nurse takes more than a cheeky wink and a clever one-liner!"
Shaheen is the latest former ‘EastEnders’ star to join ‘Casualty’ after Maddy Hill – who played Nancy Carter in the soap – joined the medical drama cast as Ruby Spark earlier this year.
