Selena Gomez to produce new drama series

Selena Gomez is to produce a new drama series described as a Latina version of ‘Empire’.
The ‘Hands To Myself’ hitmaker has signed up as executive producer of the new show, which is being developed alongside Freeform and Aaron Kaplan.
The television programme, which is as yet untitled, is currently in development and follows an 18-year-old girl with big dreams living in a low income Latino neighbourhood, Deadline reports.
Aaron got the idea for the project after he was inspired by a speech made by high school student Ana Cobarrubias at The Zimmer Children’s Museum Discovery Award Dinner last year.
Ana has also been signed up as a consultant for the show but producers are still searching for a writer.
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old singer previously revealed she would love to step behind the camera one day as a director but feels she’s got so much to prove as an actress aswell.
She said: "I’ve always loved the idea of directing. I’m not sure about writing – I don’t know if that would be my forte. But I love filming things. I love capturing things. I love figuring out how the camera works. Maybe one day …
"I’m in a place with my music where I’ve gone through this transition and I feel with this album I’ve been able to grow as an artist. But I feel like in acting, I haven’t touched the surface of what I’m able to do."
