Sean Wilson ‘to make Coronation Street return’

Sean Wilson is to return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 52-year-old actor, who is now a cheesemaker, is reportedly set to reprise his role as Martin Platt in the soap for the first time since departing Weatherfield in 2005 following his 20-year stint on the cobbles.
A show source said: "Martin has been mentioned a lot on the show since he left but it has involved other characters, mostly David, going to see him off-screen."
Sean is set to return to ‘Corrie’ for "a good few weeks" as part of his on-screen son David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) rape storyline.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "With David’s rape storyline, the writers thought it would be a good time to have him back properly.
"It’s not a permanent arrangement but fans will get to see Sean back as Martin for a good few weeks."
Sean’s reported return comes after he previously insisted he would "never" reprise his role as Martin after show bosses were "very rude" to him when he departed the show.
He once said: "I will act again, but never with ‘Coronation Street’. They were very rude to me when I left.
"I would rather walk down any other street even if I had a nail in my shoe."
Sean’s departure came about after he was left "uncomfortable" with a storyline about Martin embarking in an underage relationship.
In his book ‘The Great Northern Cook book’, he wrote: "By 2005 I knew my tenure on the Street had to end. An editorial decision was made that Martin should embark on an underage relationship, something that made me uncomfortable.
"I picked up my coat and left in September in that year ending 21 years of massive fun with a fabulous on-set family."
Martin had an eventful time in his 20 years in Weatherfield, which saw him marry Gail Platt (Helen Worth), adopt her kids Sarah-Louise (Tina O’Brien) and Nick (Ben Price), and cheat on her with Cathy Power (Theresa Brindley) and Rebecca Hopkins (Jill Halfpenny).
He also embarked on a relationship with Gail’s pal Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor) after their divorce, and later helped rescued Gail and her family from the evil clutches of serial killer Richard Hillman (Brian Capron).
What’s more, he fell in love with his pal Tommy Harris’ 16-year-old daughter Katy (Lucy-Jo Hudson), who fell pregnant before having an abortion.
Katy later died after killing Tommy, and following her death, Martin moved to Liverpool with his new girlfriend Robyn (Clare Calbraith).
Sean is now a cheesemaker and a chef, owns Saddleworth Cheese Company, and has cooked in a number of Michelin starred restaurants.
