‘Coronation Street’ is to welcome two brand new characters.

Actors Sean Ward and Oliver Farnworth have been cast in the roles of Kylie Platt’s ex-boyfriend Callum and Michael Rodwell’s son Gavin respectively.

Manchester native Sean – has already begun filming his first scenes for the ITV soap – expressed his excitement, saying: "I am delighted to have been given this unique opportunity to join such a brilliant and much-loved show.

"It is a great honour and it will be a professional challenge to play bad-boy Callum.

"I’m very much looking forward to working closely with Paula [Lane, who plays Kylie Platt]."

Oliver will appear as the on-screen son of Les Dennis, who plays the role of Michael, and is set to create some drama on the famous cobbled streets of Weatherfield.

The actor, who is best known for appearing in ‘Hollyoaks’, said: "I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of ‘Coronation Street’.

"Having spent my childhood in the North, to be given the opportunity to return and work on such an iconic, popular TV show is a dream and feels like a natural homecoming. I can’t wait to tread the cobbles!"
