Scott Holiday: AC/DC shouldn’t have toured without Brian Johnson

Scott Holiday thinks AC/DC should have rescheduled their ‘Rock Or Bust Tour’ rather than replace Brian Johnson.
The Rival Sons guitarist found it "very weird" when he heard Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose was to step in for 68-year-old rocker, who was forced to pull out of shows or risk total deafness, and thinks the band should have just postponed their gigs until the singer could rejoin them.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Scott – who supported AC/DC with his band in June 2015 – said: "I think it’s initially very, very weird just like everyone does. I think if Brian is still alive and he’s needed to take a break they should have probably all just taken a break to be honest, you know? For these guys I mean getting older is probably really hard.
"I mean you’ve got hundreds and hundreds and millions of hundred dollars on the line. People have gone and bought tickets already – it’s a lot of moving parts."
However, Scott is a "big fan" of Guns N’ Roses and has been impressed by how well Axl’s voice fits AC/DC.
He said: "Personally I am an old Guns N’ Roses fan, I’m a fan of ‘Appetite for Destruction’ , ‘G N’ R Lies’ even the ‘Use Your Illusion’ record. Axl is a huge fan of AC/DC, I think in essence his voice is a good range for them and the stuff I’ve seen has been done good."
Meanwhile, Rival Sons are currently on tour with Black Sabbath and are expected to release their fifth Studio LP next month.
On touring with Ozzy Osbourne and his band, Scott said: "It’s like it’s the type of tour you dream about when you’re a little kid. We found that the crowds really, really connect with what we’re doing – so there you go, it’s perfect".
‘Hollow Bones’ is out via Earache on June 10 and Rival Sons play the main stage at Download Festival on June 11.
