The father of Scott Eastwood’s late girlfriend has blasted him for speaking publicly about her death.
Scott revealed in a recent interview that he finds it hard to date after model Jewel Brangman, 26, died in a car accident in 2014 but her father Alexander Brangman, 61, was unhappy that Scott spoke about her death without checking in with him first.
He told PEOPLE: "I don’t think he handled the situation properly."
Alexander was also upset that Scott – whose relationship with Jewel ended six to nine months before her death – never came to the "celebration of life" they had for Jewel or contacted him after her death but the actor recently phoned him and he has now forgiven him.
He said: "Quite frankly, I was hurt by it. I was disappointed he didn’t come to her celebration of life. Many people were actually disappointed. Many of her friends flew across the country to pay their respects and condolences. There wasn’t even a flower sent.
"When things are low, I choose to rise.
"I was angry – but everybody grieves differently. You know, he’s a kid, too. I didn’t know what his grieving process is – I’d like to get to know more of what he went through. Because that’s a difficult thing.
"Maybe he didn’t know how to grieve, and in some ways, I could have helped him. Or could still help him."
Speaking recently about Jewel’s death, Scott, 30 said: "I dated a girl a couple of years ago who died in a car accident. The f***ed up thing is, it was a fender bender, and there was a recall on airbags. Her airbag exploded. It shot a projectile through her body. It split her spine, and … I’ve never told anybody that.
"I’ve lost friends before; I’ve lost some great friends. But, I had never lost someone I had been really intimate with. Maybe it’s made it harder for me to date."
