Sarah Harding returned to ‘Ghost the Musical’ last night (11.10.16) after pulling out of a performance the previous evening.
The former Girls Aloud star was forced to withdraw from her lead role as Molly halfway through Monday night’s (10.10.16) rendition at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, and show bosses have thanked the audience for being "so supportive" following the sudden change.
A statement from the production said: "Sarah Harding had to unexpectedly withdraw from Monday’s performance during the interval – the role of Molly was played by Kelly Hampson for the rest of the show.
"Sarah was back on last night. We are very grateful to Monday’s audience for being so supportive and understanding, including for the kind comments received for both Sarah and Kelly."
It’s not yet known why Sarah didn’t return to the stage on Monday after an extended interval.
She returned to the three-month tour in September after being diagnosed with an upper respiratory tract infection.
A representative for the star told BANG Showbiz on Tuesday: "Sarah had to take six days off to recover from a throat infection shortly after opening but returned to the show.
"I can’t disclose the specific reason she had to pull out of the second half last night but rest assured she’s back on stage tonight."
While Sarah made her comeback on Tuesday night, Janet Hill, who attended Monday night’s performance, claimed the 34-year-old beauty "seemed perfectly fine" before the interval.
She told the Blackpool Gazette: "It was very strange. There didn’t seem to be anything wrong with her in the first half. She seemed perfectly fine. She was holding the long notes just fine and she didn’t have a croaky voice or seem unwell.
"There was nothing wrong with her voice at all.
"The interval went on for a very long time. After about 25 minutes we had a tannoy announcement saying they were sorry for the delay and that they hoped the show would resume shortly.
"We thought there might have been a technical problem.
"After another 10 minutes there was another announcement saying Miss Harding had become ‘indisposed’ and that the role of Molly would be played by her understudy.
"There was no other explanation. Overall I’d say the interval lasted around 35 or 40 minutes."
