Sanjeev Bhaskar to appear in Doctor Who

Sanjeev Bhaskar is to appear in ‘Doctor Who’.

The 50-year-old comedian – who is best known for starring in ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ and ‘The Kumars at No. 42’ – will play an "important" role in the final episode of the new series, reports the Daily Star newspaper.

Sanjeev has previously lent his voice to ‘Doctor Who’ audio stories but this marks his first time appearing in the TV show.

He said: "I’m thrilled to have made a small contribution to – and now be part of – the Doctor Who universe. Another dream box ticked!"

Show boss Steven Moffat added: "I’m completely thrilled he is coming to the aid of the Doctor. The danger is never deadlier than in a finale episode, and the Time Lord is certainly going to need all the help he can get!"

The new series of ‘Doctor Who’ will see Peter Capaldi take over the title role and he’ll be joined by a host of famous guest stars including Frank Skinner, ‘Line of Duty’ actress Keeley Hawes and singer Foxes.

Earlier this week, BBC bosses pleaded with fans not to spoil the new series after the scripts for the first five episodes leaked online.
