Sandra Bullock’s son convinced her to take her role on ‘Ocean’s 8’.
The 53-year-old actress has admitted that she almost turned down the opportunity to star in the all-female reboot of the ‘Ocean’s’ franchise because the filming dates would mean taking her children – Louis, eight, and Laila, six – out of school.
She said: "This almost didn’t happen for me because it was supposed to shoot during the summer, and then when Cate wasn’t available, they said, ‘Are you willing to shift it to fall in New York?’ And I went, ‘I gotta take the kids out of school.’"
Sandra didn’t want to disrupt her brood’s schedules, but was eventually convinced by her son Louis to head to New York to "look at a school", which led the star to accept the offer and move her children across the country.
Speaking to People magazine, she added: "Then my son said, ‘Why don’t we go look at a school and see if we find something?’ We left on Mother’s Day, day after Mother’s Day found a school. It’s all about my kids. If I could never work again, I’d be okay with it because I’d get to go home and be with my babies."
Her son’s wise words come after Sandra recently revealed her life was nothing until she became mother to her two adopted children.
She said: "Oh, my gosh, everything [changes after adoption]. You look back in your life you go, I’ve had a really good life. But once you have children you go, my life was nothing until you showed up.
"I mean, I was wasting time, literally wasting time, every day until they showed up, and now I know exactly what my life is about because of them. I’m so blessed."
Louis is even responsible for encouraging Sandra to adopt a second child.
During a conversation between Sandra and some of her friends in 2015, who were discussing their daughters, a then three-year-old Louis said: "Yeah, I don’t have daughters. But I’m going to have a baby soon."
Sandra added: "I realised at that time, maybe he knew something. And when I think about it, it would have been around the time that Laila was born."
