Samia Ghadie’s daughter walked her down the aisle.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who sadly lost her father Joseph to cancer seven years ago – wanted six-year-old Freya, whom she has with her ex-husband Matt Smith, to accompany her towards the altar when she married her beau Sylvain Longchambon in Cheshire earlier this month.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "Freya walked me down the aisle. I didn’t want her to give me away as she’s never going to have to give me away in life, so she walked me down the aisle as Sylvain is getting Freya as well … I wanted Freya to feel really involved in the wedding, which she was. She was really looking forward to that."
And, although the pair were thrilled with their Delamere Manor wedding, they had initially planned to get hitched in the professional ice skater’s native France.
Samia said: "Up until January we were planning to get married in France. Then we decided on Delamere Manor in February, so I suppose it’s been since then."
Sylvain added to the magazine: "The people at the venue in France were being a bit cheeky so we couldn’t come to an agreement. Then [the wedding planner] Julie Perry knew about this place and we loved it straight away."
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old beauty – who met her beau when she competed on ‘Dancing On Ice’ in 2013 – is still deciding whether to take on her new husband’s surname.
She said: "I’m still thinking about it. I quite like the idea of being Mrs Longchambon but I’ll make my mind up in the next couple of weeks."
The newlyweds have six-month-old son Yves together.
