Samia Ghadie is "ready for some fresh challenges" on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 33-year-old actress – who plays Maria Connor in the ITV soap – is looking forward to her future on the show after a chat with new producer Kate Oates.
She told OK! Online: "I had a meeting with Kate [the new producer] last week to discuss where we both think my character Maria, should be heading. Kate shared a few exciting ideas and storylines so I’m really excited about that!
"My character has been a bit quiet over the last couple of years which has been fine as it’s been great having a bit more time at home, but after hearing what is in store for me at work, I feel ready for some fresh challenges. Watch this space!"
Meanwhile, Samia – who has daughter Freya, six, with her ex-husband Matt Smith and seven-month-old son Yves with her fiancé Sylvain Longchambon – previously insisted she had no worries about returning to her character after her maternity leave but was a bit scared about learning lines again because of her "baby brain".
She shared: "Playing Maria is like putting on a comfy pair of slippers. I wasn’t nervous about getting back into character but I was worried about learning my lines because of my baby brain. I can barely remember my name half the time.
"I was so excited on my first day back [on ‘Coronation Street’]. I came bounding in excitedly thinking everyone else was going to be as thrilled as I was. But none of them had six months off so most were just like, ‘Morning, you all right?’"
