Sam Smith has apologised to fans after pulling out of the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Friday (21.09.18).
The ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ hitmaker had been due to take to the stage in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the event but pulled out due to "unforeseen circumstances" and has now admitted he’s been suffering from vocal issues and needed to "rest" in order to be ready for his Asian tour, which starts in Singapore on October 2.
He tweeted: "Hello beautiful people. Thank you for your lovely messages. Just been to see my voice doctor in Boston after last night’s scare in Vegas, everything is luckily ok but I need to rest it this week in preparation for the start of Asia tour. I’m sorry everyone. All my love, Sam xx (sic)"
The 26-year-old star had previously revealed his rehearsals for the show had uncovered a problem.
Announcing the cancellation, he tweeted: "Dear all, Due to unforeseen circumstances which transpired after rehearsal, it became clear that I’m sadly unable to perform at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Vegas tonight.
"I am so so sorry about this and I want to apologise to all my fans. All my love, always. Sam x.(sic)"
The ‘Stay With Me’ hitmaker previously underwent surgery in 2015 after suffering a haemorrhage on his vocal cords and admitted afterwards he was scared of getting back on stage.
When asked if he is ready for a tour scheduled after the operation, he said: "I am. I’m scared. If anyone’s listening I’m really going to try my absolute best, but I am scared though. It’s quite intense to go into. But I love what I do and I wanted to do it, and hopefully I can hold it all together and perform every show."
