Sam Neill wants to present the Great British Bake Off

Sam Neill wants to host the ‘Great British Bake Off’.
The ‘Jurassic Park’ actor has admitted he knows "nothing about baking" but would love to take over from current presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins when the popular BBC show moves across to Channel 4 next year.
Talking to Andy Bush on Absolute Radio on Friday (16.09.16), the 69-year-old star said: "(I would present the ‘GBBO’) a hundred percent in. I know nothing about baking but I don’t think that should be a hurdle.
"It’s about a year away from production. I could learn everything that you need to know about bread making.
"We could make a much cheaper ‘… Bake off’ just with the bread making machine. I’ve got a bread maker thing at home. You just put the flour and the water in with a bit of salt and stuff and voila! Twenty minutes."
The ‘Great British Bake Off’, which has been on screens since 2010, has been the hot topic of conversation this week as it was recently announced that it will shift across to Channel 4 after the BBC failed to offer a big enough sum to Love Productions, the makers of the programme, and its rival broadcaster quickly swooped in with a bigger deal.
The BBC offered the production company an estimated £15 million per year – double the current contract – in a bid to keep hold of the show, but producers refused to accept offers below £25 million.
Channel 4 quickly waded in with a three-year deal – worth a reported £75 million – after talks between the BBC and Love Productions broke down earlier this week.
However, the future of the show is currently hanging in the balance as Mel and Sue announced shortly after the channel swap that they would be stepping down as hosts.
The fate of current judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry is not yet known but it’s believed they’re currently in monetary negotiations with Channel 4.
