Sam Lavery will sing Girls Aloud’s version of ‘I’ll Stand By You’ for Girlband vs Boyband week on ‘The X Factor’ on Saturday evening (05.11.16).
The 17-year-old wannabe pop star is dedicating the song chosen by her mentor Simon Cowell to her father Jimmy and reminded him in a gushing post that no matter what she will "always" be his "little girl".
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "This weekend my song is for one person … My Dad, My Bestfriend … No matter where I am or how much I grow up I’ll ALWAYS be your little girl! (sic)"
Elsewhere on Girlband vs Boyband week, Emily Middlemas will be putting her spin on One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, Matt Terry will take on the 80s classic ‘I’m Your Man’ by Wham! and Ryan Lawrie has been given The Beatles’ ‘Twist & Shout’ by mentor Nicole Scherzinger.
Controversial rapper Honey G will be doing Kris Kross’ ‘Jump’ and Saara Aalto has the task of wowing Louis Walsh with a cover of Girls Aloud’s ‘Sound of The Underground’, which was the first hit for the girl group, created on ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ in 2002 and formerly managed by Louis.
As for the groups, 5 After Midnight will be performing ‘Say You’ll Be There’ by the ultimate girl band the Spice Girls and Four of Diamonds are doing Wilson Phillips ‘Hold On’.
‘The X Factor’ will air on ITV at 8:00 pm on Saturday (05.11.16).
