Sam Claflin joins Charlie’s Angels

Sam Claflin has signed up for the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ reboot.
The 32-year-old actor will appear alongside his ‘Hunger Games’ co-star Elizabeth Banks in the new version of the motion picture, sources have told Variety.
Banks will direct, produce and star in the movie as Bosley – who was previously the face of the never-seen owner of detective agency Charlie Townsend – alongside Sir Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou, who will also play versions of the same character.
Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska will portray the three Angels, and Jonathan Tucker and Luis Gerardo Mendez will also appear in the film.
The Sony movie – a new take on the popular 70s TV show – will tell the story of the Charlie Townsend Agency, which has now become a security and intelligence service with teams across the globe.
Banks has penned the motion picture’s script alongside Jay Basu, and she will produce with her husband Max Handelman, as well as Doug Belgrad and Elizabeth Cantillon.
Stewart has been getting into shape for her role by boxing.
She recently said: "I have been boxing a bit, which I have never done. I am so addicted to it. As soon as I have to actually start sparring though, I realise what I am doing is intended to fight people. I am like, it really is assaulting and I really hate it.
"But all I am doing lately is talking to Liz, and can’t wait to meet the other girls and I leave on Sunday … gonna start doing more fight training, getting more aggressive quite soon."
The popular ‘Charlie’s Angels’ TV series – which initially starred Jaclyn Smith, Farrah Fawcett, and Kate Jackson – spawned a 2000 action-comedy film ‘Charlie’s Angels’, which saw Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu play the titular trio.
They also returned for sequel ‘Full Throttle’ three years later.
‘Charlie’s Angels’ is expected to be released on September 27, 2019.
