Coronation Street’s Sally Carman says her romance with Joe Duttine blossomed when they "started sharing puddings".
The 39-year-old actress – who plays Abi Franklin in the ITV soap – has admitted her attraction to her co-star took a while to come to fruition.
Asked if their romance clicked immediately, Sally – who announced her engagement to Joe in March, after going into lockdown together – told ‘Good Morning Britain’: "Slowly … Friends for a while but then we started sharing puddings and that’s when I thought maybe something was on the boil."
Joe, 50 – who plays Tim Metcalfe in ‘Coronation Street’ – announced their engagement via Twitter towards the end of March, posting a photograph of them toasting the news on the micro-blogging platform.
He wrote: "She said yes everyone, convid 19 can f*** off…
"Convid, covid, whuteva (sic)."
Sally later retweeted his message and wrote "I did" alongside some heart emojis.
Joe and Sally were first spotted together in 2018 and moved in together last November.
Prior to that, the actress admitted to being glad she doesn’t have too many scenes with her fiance.
Sally said Joe "twinkles on set" and she isn’t sure she could get through the scenes.
She explained: "I have [found love]. He’s so cute."
After it was suggested they don’t do many scenes together, Sally replied: "It’s just as well, because he twinkles on set and it’s impossible. I can’t deal with it at all."
The actress also confessed it can get confusing on set because Tim’s wife, Sally Metcalfe, is played by Sally Dynevor, whose real-life husband is also called Tim.
She said: "It’s funny because Sally, who plays Sally, is called Sally, and I’m called Sally. And her real-life husband is called Tim, so it’s very confusing."
