‘Coronation Street’ star Sair Khan nearly wasn’t allowed onto the cobbles for her final screen test when a security guard wouldn’t let her in.
The ‘Corrie’ regular is celebrating six years in Weatherfield this week, but admitted it was touch-and-go whether she would make it onto set to impress show bosses enough to give her the part of Alya Nazir, because she was forced to go round the back due to a closed bridge – and security initially denied her entry.
She wrote on Instagram: "It’s been 6 years since I joined Corrie! So many cherished memories and significantly straighter teeth!
"The pic on the left was the day of my final screen test. It was pouring down with rain, the bridge at Media City was closed so I had to walk the long way round and then security wouldn’t let me in the back gate! I finally got in and managed to sneak a few steps onto the set and quickly took one horrendous selfie! (sic)"
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star remembers auditioning with Mikey North (Gary Windass) and joked "sparks flew" between the pair when they got a static shock from her jumper.
She added: "Then my audition was with Mikey North (Gary Windass) and when I shook his hand we both got static shock from my jumper. ‘Sparks flew’ and Galya was born (if a little short lived ). It’s true what they say, Coronation Street really is a magical place to work and i still get butterflies every time I look at that picture. That was 2014 and life hasn’t quite been the same since.
"I hope we can get you all back to that 6 ep glory as soon as it’s safe! For now stay home, watch telly! (sic)"
