Saffron Barker confirmed as 4th Strictly Come Dancing contestant

Saffron Barker has been confirmed as the fourth ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant for this year’s series.
The YouTuber was revealed as the latest star who will take to the dancefloor later this year by Heart Breakfast’s showbiz expert and previous ‘Strictly’ contestant Ashley Roberts earlier this morning (01.08.19), and Saffron "cannot wait" to find out who her professional partner is.
She said: "I am so excited I can’t even tell you. This is such a dream for me.
"I’m also very nervous but I just can’t wait for it to actually start and I’ve had to hold this in for such a long time now, I’m so excited its announced.
"I’m actually most excited to find out my partner, although I know I’ve still got to wait another month to find out my partner.
"But just to get started, learning a new skill obviously.
"Like how cool to say you can do Latin and ballroom? And obviously all the glitz and glam."
While Saffron confirmed she is single, she hasn’t thought about looking for love on the dancefloor and would prefer to concentrate on her dancing.
When asked if she is hoping to hook up with someone on ‘Strictly’, she said: "You know what I haven’t even really thought about that.
"I think I’m just so focused on … obviously I want to meet my partner and have the best time and everything else, but I’m just so focused on working hard and yeah I haven’t even really thought about it.
"I think I’ll be happy with anybody but one thing that I really do want is a partner that pushes me and works hard.
"To be honest, I think they’re probably gonna be sick of me because I’m not going to want to leave the training room."
Fellow YouTube star Joe Sugg finished as runner-up on the show last year, and Saffron admits he will be a tough act to follow.
Speaking on ‘Heart Breakfast’, she added: "I’m excited to follow in his footsteps. He done absolutely amazing … I’ve got a lot to live up to."
Saffron’s announcement comes after it was confirmed last night (31.07.19) that EastEnders’ Emma Barton, former England footballer David James, and comedian Chris Ramsay will also compete in this year’s ‘Strictly’.
Tune in to ‘Heart Breakfast’, weekdays from 06:30 – 10:00.
