Rylan Clark-Neal reveals Big Brother bosses blocked return of chickens

Rylan Clark-Neal says the final series of ‘Big Brother’ nearly featured a coup full of live chickens.

The 31-year-old TV presenter has revealed producers of the show were open to the idea of reintroducing domesticated fowl to the house in 2018, but the plan was scuppered at the last moment for logistical reasons.

Rylan – who previously won and hosted ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ – wrote on Twitter: "We were SO CLOSE to having chickens back for the final series, but at the last min their "performers licenses" fell through. TRUE STORY [laughing emojis] #bbuk (sic)"

The first-ever series of ‘Big Brother’ featured live chickens and Les Dennis famously turned to the birds for comfort during his stint in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.

But TV bosses decided to scrap the chickens in 2004, having been a prominent feature in the early series of the show.

A TV insider recently claimed Davina McCall has held talks about reviving ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ next year.

It is said the presenter – who hosted the original ‘Big Brother’ series – is being eyed by Channel 4 bosses to front a star-studded edition of the iconic show.

The source shared: "Davina has been approached about the potential of returning to present ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ again.

"She is the undisputed queen of the show, so it would be a dream to have her back. They’re prepared to work everything around her if it means getting her on board. And of course, there will be a healthy pay cheque on offer."

‘Big Brother’ was hosted by Emma Willis during its run on Channel 5.
