Ryan Reynolds is in talks to star in ‘The Rosie Project’.
The 39-year-old actor is reportedly being lined up to play a genetics professor with limited social skills, who thinks he has conjured a scientific survey to find a perfect mate, in Sony Pictures’ new adaptation of Graeme Simsion’s novel.
The news is the first announcement for the project since November, when Jennifer Lawrence pulled of playing the female lead Rosie Jarman, who woos the professor but has all the opposite qualities he is looking for in a partner.
The ‘Hunger Games’ star reportedly ditched the film because negotiations went on for too long.
And since she was the one who convinced Richard Linklater to direct the title, he consequently also left the movie.
Meanwhile, it’s set to be a busy year for Ryan – who is married to ‘The Age of Adaline’ star Blake Lively – as he has just been cast alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Life’, a film about a mission to Mars which is also being made by Sony.
Though few details have been revealed about the storyline, it’s rumoured that the plot will follow a group of astronauts who analyse samples procured from the ‘Red Planet’.
