Ruby O’Donnell has admitted the ‘Hollyoaks’ cast have no idea what’s to come after last year’s flashforward episode.
The 19-year-old actress – who has played Peri Lomax on the Channel 4 show since 2013 – insisted even the cast members have no idea what’s to come after scenes aired in December, which will play out on New Year’s Eve (31.12.20).
She told Digital Spy: "We don’t know what was happening in those flashforward scenes at the moment.
"I am really glad it’s been kept that way for us, just like it is for the audience. It’s really exciting when they do that, I like it."
Her comments surround a potential twist in the flashforward episode surrounding Peri and Juliet Quinn (Niamh Blackshaw), and an apparent romance between the two characters.
One emotional scene showed the tearful pair declared their love for each other, but Ruby doesn’t have any more details than the fans about how it will unfold.
Meanwhile, viewers are also wondering if Peri will feature heavily in the upcoming plots, as some scenes – which will unfold later this year – showed Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins) and Romeo Quinn (Owen Warner) wearing matching suits with various characters all dressed up for a wedding.
Commenting on the idea her character could tie the knot with Romeo, Ruby said: "The flashforward episode obviously gives away a lot of clues as to what is happening in the episode.
"I have seen that theory about Peri if I’m honest and it is a possibility. But then again, anything could happen in ‘Hollyoaks’. They could be wrong or they could be right."
Jessica Fox – who has played Nancy Osborne since 2005 – previously revealed how intrigued she was by last year’s episode.
She said at the time: "I think it’s incredibly ambitious – not only to flashforward 12 months into the future, but also to do a storyline that involves almost the entire cast over the course of the year.
"It’s a huge undertaking. I imagine they’re up in the story office with characters on pieces of string, trying to figure out how it’s all going to come together! I’m excited for that."
