Britain’s Prince George is ‘little monkey’

Britain's Prince George is "a little monkey".
The 23-month-old tot's father Prince William has joked his son can be a bit of a handful to look after due to his mischievous behaviour, while his daughter is like "heaven".
Describing his two-month-old daughter Princess Charlotte, he said: "[She's] a little joy of heaven, but at the same time, it is more responsibility, looking after two little ones, especially when George is around. He's a little monkey."
The news comes just a fortnight after William and his wife Duchess Catherine christened Princess Charlotte at St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Queen's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
The 33-year-old duke also gushed about his wife - who he wed in 2011 - for doing such "an amazing job as a mother" following the birth of their second child in May.
He said: "Catherine has been doing an amazing job as a mother, and I'm very proud of her."
Despite having their hands full at the moment, William didn't reject the possibility of having more children suggesting it is something they are considering.
He told reporters: "We've only just had the second one.
"You never know what is going to happen in the future."

Duchess raises £2,100 in auction

Britain's Duchess of Cornwall has auctioned Andy Murray's wristband for £2,100.
The duchess was watching the tennis player compete in his second-round straight-set victory against Robin Haase at Wimbledon when the signed wristband was thrown into the crowd and caught by All England Club chairman Philip Brook, who passed the item on to Camilla.
The anonymous auction winner made a last-minute bid at 12:27 today (13.07.15) to secure the item, just an hour and a half before the auction ended.
In the description of the piece, Her Royal Highness explained she had decided to sell the item to raise funds for the Royal Veterinary College Animal Care Trust, for which she has been a patron for the past decade.
The item description explained: "Used and match-worn, Andy Murray's signed wristband from Wimbledon has been donated for auction by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall to raise money for the Royal Veterinary College Animal Care Trust.
"The wristband landed with Her Royal Highness after being caught by Chairman of The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, Mr Philip Brook. The humorous exchange was captured by photographers and TV crews and The Duchess has decided to put it on eBay for fans all over the world in the hope that it will raise money for charity. It is safely kept at Clarence House, the London home of TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall."
As well as the wristband, the winning bidder will be given a certificate of authenticity from the chief executive of the All England Lawn Tennis Club and Croquet Club, Richard Lewis, as well as a framed photograph of the moment it was thrown into the crowds.

Prince Harry battling ivory poachers

Britain's Prince Harry is battling ivory poachers in Namibia.
The 30-year-old royal is reportedly part of a team who are flying over Northern Namibia's national park to protect endangered black rhinos from poachers.
A conservationist involved in the trip said: "He is tremendously caught up in the drama of helping to protect the country's black rhinos.
"He has come here at a time when Namibia is hugely challenged by increased poaching, and he is doing his bit."
As part of his role, the former army helicopter pilot is seeking out rhinos which they then tranquillise before sawing off chunks of their horns to put off poachers looking for a "trophy horn".
However, removing parts of their horns is not believed to have any lasting impact on the animal, as it will eventually regrow.
The prince - who announced he would be leaving the Armed Forces after almost a decade earlier this year - has been living under canvas alongside a team of vets and wildlife rangers while on the trip, which is being led by Dr Peter Morkel.
Prior to joining the initiative, Harry spent a week working on a game reserve in Tanzania where elephants are often targeted for their ivory, with the visits all being part of a three-month conservation tour.
However, Namibia's Minister of Environment and Tourism Pohamba Shifeta has warned the prince against turning the trip into a publicity stunt.
The Daily Mail newspaper reported him as saying: "Harry is not the first prominent person to visit Namibia and get involved with its conservation projects. We receive a lot of prominent people.
"We appreciate this, but we don't want it to turn into a public relations exercise."

Britain’s Princess Charlotte gets $200,000 gift

Britain's Princess Charlotte has been given a $200,000 christening painting.
The two-month-old tot was showered with gifts when she was christened on July 5, with one particularly lavish gift being an oil painting which is said to be a direct copy of the original billboard advertising Disney's 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'.
The privately commissioned piece of art depicting a scene from the 1937 Disney animation has been created by artist Stephen Cawston on a seven foot-wide canvas.
In total, the piece took one month to complete and is currently on display at the Homarge Gallery in London before it is transported to Kensington Palace.
Although a source confirmed to Us Weekly magazine the gallery was "commissioned to paint a picture for the Cambridges", Stephen has refused to disclose the identity of the person who requested the artwork.
Other gifts received by the young royal included a solid silver photo frame from her grandfather Prince Charles, with the item containing a picture of the Prince of Wales with his grandchildren.
Meanwhile, the princess' aunt Pippa Middleton - who is the younger sister of Duchess Catherine - is believed to have given her a selection of designer clothes.

Tom Cruise wants Prince Harry for Top Gun

Tom Cruise wants Britain's Prince Harry to star in the 'Top Gun' sequel.
The 53-year-old star is set to reprise his role as pilot Maverick in the movie and is reportedly desperate to sign the royal up for a cameo role.
An American casting agent revealed: "Tom has thrown the offer out to his team to hit up Buckingham Palace and get Prince Harry."
As well as contacting Buckingham Palace, the 'Mission Impossible' actor has got in touch with mutual friend David Beckham in the hope the footballer can persuade Harry to agree to star in the film, which is due to be released next Christmas, to raise money for charity.
The agent continued: "He's even suggested the prince's salary could be donated directly to his chosen charity. Tom also hopes David Beckham can put a word in and pull some strings too.
"He knows it is a long shot but if anyone can make it happen it is Tom."
The source continued to say the 30-year-old royal is the perfect fit for the role because he has "real experience" of "flying in combat", as he is a qualified Army helicopter pilot.
The source told the Daily Star newspaper: "He doesn't just want Harry as a gimmick casting but someone who offers real experience and knowledge of flying in combat.
"Harry has been on the frontline in Afghanistan, so he has the credentials to stand tall in the film.
"Not only is Harry qualified but his involvement would be a huge PR coup for the movie."

Prince William begins pilot job

Britain's Prince William will begin his job as an air ambulance pilot today (13.07.15).
The 33-year-old royal will officially start the role as a fully-trained pilot following several months of training.
The father-of-two - who was formerly an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot - began a civilian pilot course in September before doing 999-response training.
William - whose wife Duchess Catherine gave birth to their second child, Princess Charlotte, in May - finished his training last month after taking some time off to be with the tot, as well as his 23-month-old son Prince George.
The Duke will be responsible for taking patients in East Anglia to hospital in the case of emergencies and will donate his salary from Bond Air Services to charity.
Speaking about Prince William's appointment when it was announced last year, East Anglia Air Ambulance trust chief executive Patrick Peal said he was sure their royal employee would be an asset to their team.
He said: "This is really good news for the charity and we're delighted His Highness has decided to fly with us.
"We are confident this will help raise the profile of the charity and other air ambulance charities in the region and across the UK.
"We're looking forward to him being part of the team.
"It is a very close-knit crew with the pilot operating closely with the doctor and paramedic so we need a strong team in every operation we go on."

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ‘have strong family values’

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have "strong family values".
The couple have been praised by royal photographer Mario Testino, who thinks they will be a positive influence on their two children, 23-month-old Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who was born in the first week of May.
He shared: "What impressed me the most was the energy of the family, and of that between the Duke and Duchess.
"One sees how solid they are together and one gets a sense of their strong family values."
Meanwhile, Mario - who's photographed four generations of Britain's royal family - has revealed how much he enjoys the experience of working with the monarchy.
He told E! Online: "It was incredible to be able to document four generations of the British Royal Family together - the monarch and three heirs to the throne - and very heartwarming to see the close relationship between them all.
"I am overwhelmed and honoured to be chosen to document this occasion and to carry on the documentation of the family that is the soul of this country, a country that has given me so much."

Prince William hails England Women’s World Cup team

Britain's Prince William thinks the England Women's World Cup side "showed the men how to do it".
The 33-year-old royal, who's an avid follower of the sport, was among those cheering on the Lionesses during the recent event in Canada, where they claimed third place, and has hailed their achievement during a reception with the team.
He said: "You showed the men how to do it - I really mean it. You really gave it your all, and everybody here noticed it - social media was alive with it.
"What you created as a team - it's fantastic. You're only going to get bigger and better."
Prince William is a self-confessed Aston Villa fanatic and prior to the FA Cup Final in May, he sat down with former England striker and BBC 'Match of the Day' presenter Gary Lineker to discuss his passion for the game.
Lineker recalled: "It was fascinating to spend some time with the Duke of Cambridge and hear more about his passion for the game.
"He is genuinely excited about the Cup Final and it's great that we can showcase his enthusiasm for Villa to the 'Match of the Day' audience."

Prince Charles has a new harpist

Britain's Prince Charles has a new personal harpist.
The 66-year-old royal has appointed Anne Denholm, 23, to the coveted position and she made her debut in the role on Wednesday evening (08.07.15), when she performed for the Prince, the Duchess of Cornwall and 60 guests at the couple's Welsh home.
Anne played using the prince's personal harp and subsequently told PEOPLE magazine: "They said they enjoyed it. I think they are enjoying hearing it being played, checking it still works!
"The prince brought back the role when I just started playing, so for me to get the opportunity to fulfill the role is wonderful. I'm looking forward to serving the Royal Family and promoting the harp and Welsh culture."
What's more, Anne said she's determined to "explore" the use of the harp.
She said: "The harp is a powerful and versatile instrument, and I am committed to exploring and expanding its use in musical and educational fields."
Prince Charles has been in Wales over the last few days, where he met the England and Australian cricket teams prior to the start of the eagerly-awaited Ashes series.
