Prince Andrew shares sweet Beatrice throwback

Britain's Prince Andrew has shared a sweet baby photo of daughter Princess Beatrice ahead of her birthday.
The young royal turns 27 on August 8 and it has prompted her father to reminisce on her childhood.
Andrew, 55, posted a 'Throwback Thursday' picture of Beatrice, posing with her parents, when she was just two weeks old.
The moving black-and-white photo posted to Facebook shows the young princess nestled between the prince and his ex-wife, the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson.
Andrew split from Sarah - with whom he also has daughter Princess Eugenie - in 1992 and the couple's divorce was finalised in 1996. However, the pair have remained friendly and cordial over the years with Sarah continuing to live with Andrew and Eugenie at the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor until just last week.
The Duchess of York's spokesperson confirmed she had left the residence and would be spending more time in Switzerland.
He said: "She will be spending the majority of her time in Switzerland.
"She is now very much an independent unit with a lot of professional commitments."
Sarah has reportedly been getting close to internet tycoon Manuel Fernandez in recent months and the pair are said to be "besotted" with each other.

Princess Anne gets on with ex-husband

Britain's Princess Anne "gets on great" with her ex-husband.
The 64-year-old princess divorced Captain Mark Phillips in 1992 but they still have an amicable relationship, and she remains "supportive" of his Festival of British Eventing, which takes place on her Gatcombe Park estate and is now run by the captain and their son Peter.
Mark said: "When we started the festival in 1982, she and I were both still competing and we wanted to set up something here and give something back to the sport.
"I don't think we understood we would still be doing it 33 years later. Obviously the princess and I did it together originally, but she has been supportive ever since.
"And now Peter is involved as well. The princess and I get on great, but Peter deals more with the park issues and it is easier for him to do that than me."
Mark is particularly proud of the way he and Anne - who is now married to Sir Tim Lawrence - handled their separation and put Peter and his younger sister Zara first.
The captain - who split from second wife Sandy Pflueger in 2012 - told The Times newspaper: "I know we got divorced byt the one thing we did really well when we got divorced was how we handled the Peter and Zara situation."

Martin Katz dropped drink on Prince William

Jewellery designer Martin Katz was "mortified" when he dropped a drink on Prince William's feet.
The Beverly Hills jeweller met the prince and his wife Duchess Catherine while vacationing in Mustique in May 2008 and was very impressed with the 33-year-old royal's "dignity" and kindness.
He recalled: "We started talking about scuba diving. They had gone that day or the day before, and while I was talking, I was holding a glass of fruit punch and it slipped from my hand and crashed to the floor and sprayed all over the prince's feet. He was in flip-flops.
"I was mortified of course, but all I heard was, 'That was quite refreshing, thank you.' His mother would have been quite proud that he handled himself with such dignity.
"It was a very embarrassing moment for me, and he was very kind about it, and my wife never lets me forget that moment. I tried [to buy him a drink], but I don't think he was partaking in any more rounds."
And Martin was very impressed by how friendly and down-to-earth the couple - who now have children Prince George, two, and Princess Charlotte, three months - were with everyone.
He added to People magazine: "Kate looked very casual, she wasn't particularly wearing make-up, she looked lovely.
"She just couldn't be more gracious and talked to everybody who would talk to her. It wasn't like she was working the room, but if someone wanted to speak to her, she was happy to speak.
"They were lovely and they couldn't be more present. I think what struck me was that they were human like everybody else, dressing to fit in like everybody else."

Zara Phillips feels ‘lucky’ to have no title

Britain's Zara Phillips feels "lucky" not to be a princess.
The 34-year-old eventer and her brother Peter were not given royal titles by their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, at the request of their parents Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips and she is pleased with the decision because it gave her more freedom.
Asked if she thinks her life would be different if she were a princess, she said: "Probably. But I can't really answer that. I'm very lucky both my parents decided not to use the title and we grew up and did all the things that gave us the opportunity to do."
Zara - who has 17-month-old daughter Mia with husband Mike Tindall - was famously viewed as a royal rebel and wild child when she was younger, especially after having her tongue pierced, but she insists her behaviour wouldn't have been regarded as anything out of the ordinary if it weren't for her background.
Speaking in an interview with The Times newspaper, she said: "I don't know if I was that wild.
"I guess it looked like that because of my family background. I'm sure that is what it's probably compared to."

Queen Elizabeth put photographer at ease

Britain's Queen Elizabeth put her photographer "at ease" when his camera malfunctioned.
The 89-year-old monarch posed for Hugo Rittson-Thomas in a unique four-way image - which used mirrors to capture her at different angles - but while he was horrified when his equipment had a "digital seizure", his subject remained "very calm and cool".
He said: "The camera had a digital seizure about two-thirds of the way into the shoot but she was very calm and cool and put me at my ease.
"My brain had just frozen but she started talking to me and I was able to fix the problem in two minutes. The roles were reversed and she was the one putting the photographer at ease."
The queen is seen smiling at the camera in the picture, and the photographer revealed he captured the happy portrait by asking how she would feel if she won the Epsom Derby - the one classic race she has so far failed to have a horse triumph in - and she instantly beamed.
The photograph forms part of the Queen's People exhibition, which opens in London later this month and also includes her grandson, Prince William, who was captured in his uniform as Colonel of the Irish Guards, and daughter-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
Other subjects of the four-way exhibition pictures include Former Queen's Piper Pipe Major Derek W. J. Potter, staff of the Royal Mews, York Herald Michael Peter Desmond O'Donoghue, Earl Marshal Edward William Fitzalan-Howard, 18th Duke of Norfolk, and Colonel Charles Webb of the Military Knights of Windsor.
The images form part of an exhibit of 50 formally posed portraits which will run from August 19 to September 19 at the Eleven gallery in London.

Will.i.am would ‘love to hug The Queen’

Will.i.am would "love to hug The Queen".
The 'Scream & Shout' hitmaker has revealed Britain's Queen Elizabeth reminds him of his late grandmother, so would like to embrace her and pretend the 89-year-old monarch is part of his family.
He said: "I'd love to hug The Queen as it would remind me of my grandma. I want to go, 'Hug me, tell me everything you know, tell me everything is going to be okay.'"
The 40-year-old Black Eyed Peas band member explained Her Majesty and his grandmother are similar because although his family never had much money, she always used to insist on being dressed smartly like Queen Elizabeth because it was "part of that generation" to always be dignified and full of pride in your appearance.
He continued: "It's a different generation - they're soft in how they speak and are full of chivalry, politeness and elegance. My grandma wore hats and dressed to the nines, although we didn't have money. The Queen is the opposite but carrying yourself with dignity and respect is part of that generation."
And Will - who has previously given a donation of £500,000 to Prince Charles' youth charity The Prince's Trust - confessed he's also a fan of Prince William.
He told HELLO! magazine: "William is a good lad."

Britain’s Duchess Catherine feels ‘tensions’ with Queen

Britain's Duchess Catherine reportedly feels "some tensions" with Queen Elizabeth.
The pair are rumoured to have fallen out as a result of Catherine taking time off from her schedule of royal engagements following the birth of Princess Charlotte in May and the duchess now feels The Queen sent a further "disapproving" message by missing the second birthday celebrations of her great-grandson Prince George last month.
Speaking about the birthday party held at Anmer Hall - a two-and-a-half hour drive from Buckingham Palace - a royal insider told Life & Style magazine: "This would have been the perfect opportunity for the Queen to show her support for Kate. There are clearly some tensions. The Middletons thought that the message they were getting from The Queen was definitely a disapproving one."
The speculation over the 33-year-old royal's relationship with her grandmother-in-law comes a month after the same magazine reported the 89-year-old monarch had nicknamed her "Duchess Do-Little".
The source said: "She would never say this in public, but even Her Majesty described Kate as 'Duchess Do-Little' when she was very tired one day.
"She comes from a different generation and has a sense of duty above all else.
"Kate is getting a bit of a reputation for ducking out of royal duties. That's where her nicknames, 'Duchess of Do-Little' and 'Lazy Katie,' come from. If you can't find time to pay tribute to some old men who saved your country, what message does that convey?"

Prince Charles considered ‘topless scything’

The Prince of Wales considered "topless scything".
The 66-year-old royal recently judged a village scything competition in Transylvania, Romania, and he has since been jokingly compared to Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) who was famously shown scything - a method of cutting grass with an agricultural hand tool - while topless in the BBC period drama 'Poldark' earlier this year.
Writing in Radio Times magazine about a recording of the BBC Radio 4 programme 'On Your Farm' on which the Prince spoke about the contest, the BBC rural affairs reporter Charlotte Smith said: "There is no 'Poldark' moment. I jokingly suggest it to the Prince, who laughs and momentarily seems to consider topless scything - to the horror of his press secretary."
In the interview, the Prince spoke about how he wished to revive scything and other traditional rural crafts because it benefits nature.
He said: "Interestingly, I discovered that in the UK there's a very flourishing scything society, who help to come and scythe bits of my meadow. All I'm saying is that scything, because it's done at that level, is incredibly beneficial to the wildflower production and continuity.
"Now, there are certain meadows that you could apply scything to if people are keen enough to do it, and there are more people interested, and all I've been trying to do for the last God-knows-how-long is remind people that you need to reintroduce a balance.
"Rural communities are vital, people still want to live in the countryside, but it has to be a living and working one at the same time."

Bonnie Prince Charlie played by Jamie Bacon in new film

Bonnie Prince Charlie will be played by Jamie Bacon in a new film about his life.
The Jacobite prince was known for fighting for his right to assume the thrones of England, Scotland, France and Ireland by instigating the Jacobite uprising of 1745 but failing to regain the British throne, and his tale will now be told in 'The Great Getaway', which will follow his flight to the isles after his defeat.
Robbie Moffat who will executive produce the film revealed filming is set to begin later this month in Galloway, southwestern Scotland, with a major fight scene expected to be featured in the film requiring 500 extras.
He explained: "We are going to start in Galloway and then we are going to move up north."
And Jamie - who will also be seen starring opposite Mischa Barton and Robert Knepper in 'The Hoarder' later this year - admitted he is "excited" about the role.
He told BBC Scotland: "I am very excited about starting this project, it's a fascinating story and period of history.
"It's crazy how not many people actually know the facts about Bonnie Prince Charlie so I'm looking forward to portraying a truth and understanding of this historical figure.
"The script is brilliant and I'm very excited to be playing Charles because having the opportunity to play a person who actually lived with depth and truth is what an actor dreams of so I am more than excited to get into his boots."
